*Juggler initially trained at the circus with Annie Fratellini and cabaret, he is very interested in jazz and collaborates with many musicians: Bernard Lubat, Carlo Rizzo, Marc Perronne, Pascal Lloret, Alfred Spirli, Jacques Higelin, ARFI, Trio Bravo,
Andy Aimler, Aleph Ensemble, Michel Portal and many more.
These meetings orient him towards a practice of improvisation. After creating Artrio (1988) with Jean-Paul Autin and Carlo Rizzo, he interpreted Extraballe (1990) a solo in collaboration with the choreographer Hervé Diasnas with whom he toured the world, then Kulbuto (1991), a collective creation. * He is the Artistic Director of ARMO (Research Workshop in Object Manipulation) / Cie Jerome Thomas since its creation in 1992 and co-directs with Agnès Célérier since 2000. *With La Company, he produces Quipos, world of strings & Hic Hoc, dream world in 1995 / Amani Ya Bwana, with Kenyan acrobats, Jambo Mambo in 1996 / The Banquet with GR 12, research group of the Cie in 1997 / “4” That we finish a good once and for all with … in 1998 / IxBE after Extraballe and interpreted by Simon Anxolabéhère is created in 2000 at L’arc, National Scene of Creusot, theater of residence of the Company for many years. These shows have largely toured abroad thanks to the support of AFAA.
*Circus Lili recalls Jerome Thomas circus tent. The show is created for and under the tent of the Cie in Lannion in 2001. Circus Lili has been played more than 300 times in France and abroad.
*He then created Milkday at Théâtre 71 de Malakoff in 2003 / Le fil … and his guests for the Cirque Jules Verne d’Amiens in 2004, a play whose starting point is Le Fil, a show staged at the request of the musicians Michel Aumont and Daniel Pabeuf in Lannion and who receives the prize of the Brittany Region. Also in 2004, he created Pong with the Swiss mime Markus Schmid, which is presented at the Avignon Festival in the Subjects Vive program designed by the SACD.
*Rain / Bow, bow after the rain, ballet juggled for ten artists trained in the same practice of movement and manipulation of objects, was created in 2006 in two versions: theater at the Agora de Boulazac and Circus Circus Jules Verne in Amiens. * In December 2007, he put on the track the opening performance of Cirque Théâtre d’Elbeuf, Piste Games.
*In 2008 he creates successively Dragonfly and Butterflies !! show for 8 artists who integrates a solo that he performs, choreographed by Pedro Pauwels / Papillons! version for the street / Sortilèges, young people show / Two men juggling in their head, conceived in collaboration with the composer Roland Auzet and under the supervision of Mathurin Bolze. That same year, he is on stage in Le Malheur de Job, a show staged by Jean Lambert Wild.
*En 2009, il participa à Idéal Club 2 des 26000 couverts et conçoit avec Isabel Ettenauer un concert circassien Clownerie, joué sous le chapiteau de la Compagnie en Autriche dans le cadre de Linz 09–capitale européenne de la culture. Il débute également la série des Untitled#, performances en solo et in situ. Le #1 est joué au Musée d’art contemporain du Château de Rivoli en Italie.
*In 2010, he creates Ici. with the mime Markus Schmid and the musician Pierre Bastien, show in three movements, for two artists and a mechanical music.
* In 2012, he created with Jean-Marie Maddeddu, Sur des oeufs in Cherbourg for the opening of the Spring festival organized by La Brèche.
*In 2013, he created FoResT, second show after Cirque Lili for the marquee of wood and red cloth of Cie. He is accompanied by Jean-François Baëz accordionist and composer, Aurélie Varrin, his female counterpoint and Ria Rehfuss.
* Meanwhile, Jérôme Thomas continues his research on improvisation and the relationship between juggling and music with plays like Juggling Hands / Les Hurluberlus / Duo “Jérôme Thomas invites Jean François Baëz”.
In 2008, a version of this duet with Russian accordionist Sergei Osokin is created and toured in the Russian Federation.
*Ever since, Jérôme Thomas has been trying to transmit his practice, now known as cubic juggling in France and abroad. Regularly contacted by different structures, he provides courses, workshops, workshops and master classes built around the notion juggling-movement. His interventions are aimed at professionals as amateurs. He has also intervened several times in prison. Recently, he has been contacted by theaters or universities to give lectures on his career, his life as an artist.
*In 2012, he created Colosse, the end of year show of the Académie Fratellini and in 2014, he directed Over the Cloud, with the collaboration of Martin Palisse, the final show of the 26th CNAC which is created at the Circus historique de Chalons-en- Champagne and presented under a marquee at La Villette in January / February 2015.
*He was the instigator, with the help of many artists and the Theater 71 of Malakoff, of the first Contemporary Juggling Festival, In the Cities Juggle, in 1996. The last edition of this event took place in June 2001. As part of the Year of the Circus in 2001, he was artistic director of Jongle Arts at Espace Chapiteaux in Parc de la Villette and member of the Honorary Committee. In 2003, he received the SACD Prize for Circus Arts. He was part of the Burgundy DRAC Expert Committee from 2005 to 2015 and since 2010 he is a member of the Licensing Commission. In 2012, he was a member of the DMA diploma jury at the Fratellini Academy and in 2014 at the CNAC.
In 2015, he was elected Managing Director of Circus Arts at SACD for the second time, his first term having been held from 2009 to 2011.
