Born in 1982 in Jerusalem, Yousef Zayed began playing oriental percussion instruments at the age of 11. then, under the direction of Youssef Hbeish, he perfected himself at the Edward Said National Conservatory of Ramallah, where he obtained a diploma in percussion. With professional artists like Khaled Joubran, Ahmad Al-Khatib and Issa Boulos, he studied Oud and oriental music theory. In addition, he obtained his license in the Media of Birzeit University. Zayed also plays other stringed instruments like Bouzuq and Cumbas. Yousef Zayed’s Compositions reflect his impression of time and place in relation to his feelings and senses. He has played in several well-known bands and artists such as Khaled Jubran, Basel Zayed, Ahmad Alkhatib, Issa Bolous, Nawa, Turab, Karloma, Awj, Oriental Music Ensemble, PYO Palestinian youth orchestra, Samer Totah, Lena Chamamyan, Elijah Ma’alouf Jazz Quintet, Joubran Trio, Samih Choukaer, Abed Azrié, Wassim Qassis, Jameel Al-Sayeh, Sabreen, Smadj, Musical Beit Almusica, Yasamine, Al Funoun Folk Dance Group and First Ramallah Group for Music and Dance . Zayed worked at the Sabreen Association for Artistic Development and taught oriental percussion at the Edward Said Conservatory in Ramallah. Currently, Zayed is studying classical percussion and music theory at the Conservatoire de Gennevilliers in Paris, France.
