SUMMARY:Glaz
DESCRIPTION:‘French-Lebanese artist Zad Moultaka built in Kerguéhennec\, right in the middle of the fields and bad weather\, a gigantic strip of paper measuring 10m by 5m. Remembering the original Mesopotamian Flood\, Moultaka celebrates the reign of water\, where the earth would sink gently into the tinkling of things. In order to drown this image of the annihilation of humanity under transparency and color\, seeking to become rain and wind\, the artist worked his painting of the abyss not with watercolor but with the water\, covering all trace of the flooded soil of this indefinable terracotta color of the Glaz\, once blue\, green and gray\, that the sea takes on at high tide.’\nEmmanuel Daydé\, curator

SUMMARY:Déluge
DESCRIPTION:‘Next to these post-Anthropocene Water Lilies\, where man’s hand fades away from the nature\, Zad Moultaka has built a monumental video waterfall\, Déluge\, where the images of the world are poured out to us daily\, raining down on the confused visitor. Simultanuously\, the threat of the high tide\, our disappearance sinks into the contemporary audiovisual Déluge\, where the endless flow of images and sounds lead us to our own engulfment.’ Emmanuel Daydé\, curator

SUMMARY:Seuil
DESCRIPTION:‘In order to demonstrate the valley of tombs crossed by the former Gulf of Morbihan rivers\, still terrestrial in the Neolithic era\, Zad Moultaka crosses the Seuil of Time. Sculpting seven hills in earth paper that emerge from primal water\, he revives the monuments of the great megalithic culture of Morbihan. Tracing sea undulations on the ground\, inspired by the engravings carved on the rock itself in the interior corridor of the Gavrinis’ funerary cairn\, the artist covers his creations with gold leaf\, as if he identified them with the royal caps of the Phoenician storm god water Baal. At the beginning as at the end of humanity\, when the water will rise\, the light will shut off’. Emmanuel Daydé\, curator

SUMMARY:Ejecta
DESCRIPTION:Video\, electroacoustic music\nReopening of the Sursock Museum\nLevel -2\nBeirut-Lebanon \n \nPresentation\nEjecta is an immersive installation created especially for the reopening of the Sursock Museum – museum of modern art in Beirut – following the explosion of August 4\, 2020. “Refusing collapse\, opposing deterioration\, responding to violence with revoked violence\, using the only weapon of thought\, culture\, art and what is the noblest and brightest in man. Ejecta incites to take the weapons of massive construction. A lightning bolt is always possible to strike down Ignorance. We must fight the shadow by an excess of light\, the black by saturation of color\, the explosion by an even more powerful explosion. Ejecta is a luminous explosion\, the burst of a volcanic hope before the appearance of a consoling song\, it is a cathartic temple inside which\, rubble and ruins\, ashes and fragments mutate into sparkling crystal in order to ease all pains”.  \nCredit & Performances\nMay 26\, 2023 – September 24\, 2023\nSursock Museum\, Beirut – Lebanon
