electroacoustics & installations

A singer, Egyptian muezzin, cantiles suras of the Koran. These songs are here superimposed and the Qur’anic cantillations stacked, to create the puzzling effect of a polyphony outside the contrapuntal rule. This polyphony is created by widening and stretching the sound, as if it was the Arabic music that had developed an incredible harmonic system. A work on the strata and the vocal layers..

Between hyper realism and fiction, the work shapes an acoustic existence, whose appearances are deceptive, of the order of the simulacrum. The usual distances operated by the representation are abolished, as in a nocturnal dream. The piece shows a contemporary approach influenced by technology, drawing its energy from the archaic backdrop of the immemorial and holding “concrete” music as much as abstraction.
