Isôn

Isôn

8′ – 2010
for orchestra

The isôn is a second voice that accompanies the melody throughout a piece by one or two held notes. The term comes from Byzantine music. It represents the sound crystallization of the reference sound of the sung phrase. Zad Moultaka writes here a work that tries to treat the noise of life, of the city, exterior and interior, to create discontinuous continuity. A form that thickens, solidifies, then under the attacks crumbles, bursts, until the fluidity of the sound mass.
