KAHRABA
The word means “electricity” in Arabic. For the Latin languages, he approaches phonetically our fairy Carabosse. The electricity fairy?
The score, born from the meeting between Pierre Bibault, his desire for a piece for instrument and Zad Moultaka, his dismay at this strange and dumb instrument if it is not connected …

Thursday, November 24, 2016,
first working session with Zad Moultaka in Paris.
Hardware installation. The electric guitar requires a little preparation: amp, effects, connections, current …
Pretty soon we get to the heart of the subject: I present to him the guitar. We are quite far from the classical guitar for which he has already written so wonderfully. I show him the few technical possibilities that the instrument offers and the actions I like to perform on it.
Second step, the entry into the sound material: effects, pedals, adjustments, loops, as many sound materials that open fields of infinite possibilities.
Zad Moultaka takes the guitar. In his hands is a brand new world that is organized. He develops a multitude of sounds, modes of games. The one that marks me the most at this moment is his hands inversion that gives the sound of the guitar that I could never have suspected. The instrument finds its roots before moving in the sound processing effects. The word “unheard” finds its meaning.
We explore the gestures, we explore the sounds. He seems conquered.
How to connect now this instrumental and musical gesture, with this infinite effects? How to give substance to this new work by connecting the instrumental and human material to the transformed sound material?
We will see each other again, the work has just begun
