SOLEIL

a capella voice

“What emerges from the reading of the texts written by the prisoners is the rage of speech. Express yourself at all costs, with rare intensity. The most iconic poem is “inside out”; words piled up like so many open wounds and suffering. Taking this text in its entirety allowed me to turn this word into a musical subject, human energy into vocal energy. A lamento closed the work with a space given to the songs of the prisoners themselves, where they join the professional singers, the people of the “outside” for a painful but hopeful cry.”
