This work is crossed through the space of writing, the graphics of the alphabet, what calligraphy can generate in the imaginary of the relationship between the line, the visual of the line and the sound that inscribes in it . It is this encounter between the beauty of the line and the sound it carries that creates the sound space. Working neither on the signified, nor on the significance, nor on the meaning of the words, it is the letters that make up a text that serve as a canvas for musical writing.
The composer follows each line, full, loose, each form of the characters that make up the poem. But basically, the Arabic alphabet notes the consonants. Reliefs, accentuation, climates and sound accidents. In the East, calligraphy is connected to thought and the depository of independent knowledge. This dimension was gradually absent in the West, for the sole benefit of the usefulness of the sign. Joining here the force of the neume (from the Greek pneuma, breath), the musical work draws on this abstraction a new sound reality. The title “Khat” means “writing” in Arabic

Khat is one of the strangest vocal works. It opens the disc “Visions”.
