libretto Maryline Desbiolles

“Maryline Desbiolles’s new cycle of poems, through its intensity, evokes an inner, silent music. Although the form follows perfectly the eight scenes of Olivier Messiaen’s opera Saint François d’Assise, the composer is completely unaware from the text. Yet his implicit presence overwhelms us. His spirit resonates within us through the Desbiolles prism, with both strength and gentleness: I have heard the voices of the world and gathered them up. In the dark night, they accompany me. This is how this poetic journey ends. I have tried to invent a silent music that might be a small flame into this dark night.” Zad Moultaka
